children and teens

At The Orchard children through 5th grade are invited to take part in the children's ministry, and students 6th–12th grade are invited to take part in The Porch. Children and teens are a huge part of The Orchard. We even built a building just for them. We are always busy with special events, outreach projects, and trips, and here is what you need to know to bring your children and teens to The Orchard the first time.

We look forward to seeing you in the Children's Ministry. We hope that you and your children have a wonderful first time experience. The children's ministry is led by our Children’s and Family Pastor, Michael Latino. The kids meet every Sunday during both worship gatherings.  Here are a few things that will help you have a successful morning.

1. Where to Park

Reserved parking in front of the children's building is available to you.

2. When to Arrive

Arrive as early as 9:15 or 10:55 AM to register children for the 9:30 or 11:10 AM worship gatherings. There is a special registration area just for first time guests.

3. Registration (The Loading Dock)

When you enter the Children's Building, the first thing you should do is register your child. Every kid and parent will get a sticker with your information on it. Parents must present their tickets to the room teachers when they are checking out their children. We do this to ensure your child's safety while they are here at The Orchard.

4. Classrooms

All first-time guests are asked to fill out a Registration Form at the Loading Dock.  Based on ages and developmental stages, your children will be assigned and then escorted to classrooms. When you visit again, they can be checked right into the same classroom they attended.

5. Childrens Grow Groups

These groups are designed to help kids grow deeper in their relationship with God. In group formats similar to an Adult Grow Group (yet, tailored to them), kids will dig into the Bible learning how to read it, study it, and put into action what they are learning. Children are divided by age in the following learning environments:

The Workshop is a weekly environment created
especially for your infant (six weeks) through
   preschool-aged children.

INFANT NURSERY 6 weeks to 1 year
We know that leaving your new baby for the first time can be overwhelming. The volunteers in our infant classrooms have been chosen for this age group because of their love for babies and their training to care for all of the needs of your infant.

TODDLERS 1 to 3 years
This is a fun and active stage in your children’s lives. We are excited to have them in The Workshop and look forward to teaching them that God loves them, God made them, and Jesus wants to be their friend forever.

PRE-SCHOOL 3 to 5 years
We believe that it is our responsibility to introduce preschoolers to their Heavenly Father. So before they leave The Workshop, we want them to know: God loves me, God made me, and Jesus wants to be my friend forever.

The Factory is our Sunday morning environment for
   elementary-aged kids (K- 5th grade).

K THRU 5TH GRADE
Our elementary age children start out in a large group where they are introduced to the topic of the day through worship and creative, interactive teaching that utilizes video, drama, illustrative object, and personal interaction. When large group finishes K-5th graders break out into smaller groups called Grow Groups. Each Grow Group is led by adult leaders who often partner with teens. During the small group time grades K-1, 2-3, and 4-5 meet seperately for games, bible lessons, scripture memory, and age appropriate discussion that helps them apply the principle of the bible to real life.

Our Children's Ministries are led by Children's and Family Pastor -

Our biggest hope is to connect students to God and to each other. It's not easy being a teen in today's world, but through supportive relationships, solid teaching, and relevant faith experiences we aim to help students find Jesus, then grow stronger in the journey of following Him. Based on Matthew 6:33, our Porch 633 ministry does just that.

We start with our outdoor skate park where skaters have a safe place to skate. Then we gather together as a large group (6th-12th grades) in the Worship Center for some exciting games, music with The Porch Band, and a message. After the message, we have an intermission “Café” where students can buy pizza, snacks, water, and soft drinks as well as participate in some hang out time and recreation. The final element of the evening is our Grow Groups that are split up by grade and gender. Grow Groups allow youth to ask questions, to explore scripture and to spend time discussing the message and its relevancy to their lives, grow deeper in their walk with Christ and have more personal time with a trained adult leader! Grow Groups are led by at least two youth leaders who regularly work with Porch students.

Wednesday evening Youth schedule.
5:45 PM - Skate Park Opens (weather permitting)
6:10 PM - Worship Center Opens. Registration begins.
6:33 PM - Games, Music, and Message

Come check us out! We would love to have you. Our best advice for first timers is to bring a friend! Click here for a map of the campus.

PORCH Student Ministries are led by Youth and Family Pastor, Rich Griffith.
Pastor Rich is the primary teacher, but often shares those responsibilities
with one of the adult youth leaders. Teaching at High School Porch follows
closely with the Sunday morning message series.

“Seven years ago, we came to the Orchard and found our home. It felt very comfortable and nonjudgmental. We also experienced an outpouring of love from its members since the day we arrived… combine this with its relaxed casual atmosphere and rocking worship band, we knew we were in the right place.”
